A Mess Ball or Winter/Summer Party is a significant affair and the amount of work required to achieve a successful event should not be underestimated.   We have delivered Mess Balls across BFG and the UK and understand what's needed to make your event run smoothly.  In our opinion, Mess Balls/Parties should be special occasions that people talk about for weeks after (for all the right reasons!)

The first thing to get right is the venue.   If you want short travel times and cheaper bars then opt for an in-barracks venue.  It your facilities aren't that great then consider using an outside facility or a mobile marquee.    We have had marquees built in many barracks and this gives you more freedom in determining the layout.  Regardless of where you decide to hold your event, it's worth carefully considering portable power, portable loos, stage and lighting, props and a quality PA (we see loads of DJs with tiny PA systems playing in large function areas).

Having invested money and effort into arranging your event, you need to get the right entertainment and have it properly scheduled into your evening.  We've noticed bands playing loudly while people eat (not good for your digestive system) and have seen home grown acts performing when something highly professional is required.   Expensive staging and a cheap band isn't a great match so allocating your funds carefully to achieve a consistent standard is strongly recommended.
